Konieczny, Sophie (1893 - 1956)


Mrs. Sophie Konieczny passed away at the Mount Washington Sanatorium at Eau Claire, Wis., on Tuesday, Jan. 31st, 1956, after a lingering illness.


Sophie Haider was born in Poland on Dec. 14, 1893 and had reached the age of 62 years, 1 month and 17 days.


She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Haider and came to America with her parents in 1896. She resided for 18 years in New Jersey and three years in Minneapolis before coming to Thorp, Clark County in 1917, and locating on a farm with her husband, Frank Konieczny, to whom she was united in marriage on Sept. 15, 1914 at Minneapolis.


Besides her husband she is survived by four sons, Thomas of Menasha, Wis., Frank Jr. of Thorp, Stanley of Hortonville, Wis., and George of Milwaukee two daughters, Margaret, Mrs. Fred Rohland and Agnes, Mrs. Otto Rohland of Withee, Wis. one brother, Frank Haider of Minneapolis and one sister, Agnes, Mrs. Stanley Ormat of Wayzata, Minn.


Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. J. Polaszewski at St. Mary's Church at Lublin at 10 o'clock Friday morning, Feb. 3rd, interment following in St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas, Frank, Stanley and George Konieczny and Fred and Otto Rohland.

Mrs. Fred (Margaret) Rohland, 64, Withee, died at her home on Dec. 31, 1981, at 8:00 a.m. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 4, 1982, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee. Rev. Douglas Groenewold officiated. Burial took place at Riverside Cemetery, with Maurina Funeral Home handling arrangements.


Mrs. Rohland was born on March 25, 1917 at Minneapolis, Minn. She received her education at the Thorp area high school. Formerly Margaret Konieczny, she married Fred Rohland on April 1, 1939 at Chicago, Ill. She farmed all of her life in the Withee, Clark County area. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid.


Surviving are her husband one son, Dennis, Withee four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marcia) Krueger, Milwaukie, Oregon Lois Rohland, Madison Barbara Rohland, St. Louis, Mo. and Lorie Rohland, Chippewa Falls four brothers, Frank Konieczny, Thorp Thomas Konieczny, Menasha Stanley Konieczny, Withee George Konieczny, Marshfield one sister, Mrs. Otto (Agnes) Rohland, Withee and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother.


Pallbearers were Jerrold Rohland, Robert Rohland, Steven Rohland, Brian Rohland, David Konieczny, and Leon Konieczny.

Konieczny, Leon W. (14 JAN 1920 – 24 APR 1936)

Leon Konieczny, 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Konieczny, of the town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), died at the hospital at Chippewa Falls, of a ruptured appendix, on April 24th following and operation.

Leon Wallace Konieczny was born Jan. 14, 1920.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s National Catholic Church at Lublin on Tuesday morning Last, Rev. Kedzierski officiating and interment following in the Lublin Cemetery.

Leon Konieczny died at the St. Joseph’s Hospital at Chippewa Falls, on Friday evening, April 24th, 1936, of a ruptured appendix. He had not been ill for any length of time and complained of a slight pain on Thursday. He was immediately taken to Dr. Neis for examination and then rushed to the hospital.

Leon was born in the Town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) on Jan. 14, 1920, having reached the age of 16 years, 3 months and 10 days. He was a very devoted son, brother and friend and was dearly loved by all who knew him.

Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Konieczny, deceased leaves to mourn, two sisters and four brothers, Margaret, Agnes, Thomas, Frank, Stanley, and George, and a large number of relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at St. Mary’s National Catholic Church at Lublin on last Tuesday morning, Rev. F.F. Kedzierski officiating, interment following in the Lublin Cemetery.

The pallbearers consisted of his classmates, cousins and friends: Anton Lindquist, Mike Bonczyk, Ray Konieczny, Joe Kozenka, Justin Jakowicz, and Joe Olinski. The flower girls were: Jennie Lindquist, Sophie Kozenka and Charollet and Celia Patchak.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were: Mrs. Frank Noren, Miss Frances Lie, Ray Julkowski, Anton Haider, Frank Haider, and daughter, Marcella.

AGNES D. ROHLAND, age 96, of Colby, WI, formerly of Withee, passed away peacefully at Colby Retirement Community, in Colby, on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, February 26, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Withee. Rev. Tom Myhre will officiate and burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, rural Withee. Pallbearers will be Dave Missling, Eric Rohland, Troy Rohland, Tyler Churchill, Nathan Rohland and Ethan Rohland. Visitation will be held at the church, on Monday, from 9:30am until time of service.
Agnes Delores Konieczny was born on December 17, 1921 in Thorp, WI, to Frank and Sophie (Haider) Konieczny. She was raised and received her education in the Thorp area, graduating from Thorp High School in 1939. Agnes attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing, in Marshfield, WI, graduating in 1943. She then served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp. during WWII, as a Registered Nurse, from January 4, 1944 to March 17, 1946. Agnes was united in marriage to Otto Rohland on March 8, 1947. They farmed together in rural Withee all of their married life, and she also worked as a nurse at the Clark County Health Care Center from 1966 until her retirement in 1986.
Agnes will be remembered as a generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She had many interests, but especially enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, solving crossword puzzles and word searches, and was excellent at solving the puzzles on the "Wheel of Fortune" game show.
Agnes was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aide, and served as a hospice volunteer following her retirement.
She is survived by her 6 children: Janis (Al) Missling of Withee, Jerrold Rohland of Green Bay, Marilyn (Ken) Churchill of Green Bay, Robert (Sharon) Rohland of Thorp, Steven Rohland of Fort Atkinson, Brian (Dorthy) Rohland of Bloomer; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother: George (Joanne) Konieczny of Marshfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto, on January 25, 1990; one son, Todd, on January 12, 1970; one sister: Margaret Rohland; and 4 brothers: Leon, Tom, Frank and Stanley Konieczny.

Agnes married Otto Rohland on 8 Mar 1947 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois USA. Frank E. Konieczny, age 87, of the Town of Withee, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee, with the Rev. Bonnie Cain officiating.


Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Owen assisted the family with arrangements.


Mr. Konieczny was born on September 26, 1923 on the family farm in Thorp, the son of Frank and Sophia (Haider) Konieczny. He attended Pineland School.


Frank was united in marriage to Phyllis Ammentorp on June 16, 1945 at Nazareth Lutheran Church.


In addition to owning a dairy farm in the Town of Withee, Mr. Konieczny also worked at Thorp Silo Company and later was employed at Master Package where he was a foreman. He retired in 1987.


Frank was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was a past president of the Paper Workers Union and former member of the Pineland School Board. Frank was also a former manager of the Pineland School Baseball Team.


Frank cherished the time he could spend with family and friends, especially if it included playing sheepshead, cribbage and various card games. Camping, hunting and fishing were some of Frank's other favorite pastimes.


He is lovingly survived by his wife, Phyllis Konieczny, Thorp; children, Roger (Jean Arnce), Portage, Sharon (Butch) Maier, Union Grove, David (Chris) Konieczny, Medford, Ginny (Pat) Frinack, Thorp, Paul (Chris) Konieczny, Thorp, and Carol (Dennis) Kuehnhold, Marshfield; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Agnes Rohland, Withee; and brothers, Stanley (Adala) Konieczny, Medford, and George (Joanne) Konieczny of Marshfield.
Frank is preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Rohland, and brothers, Tom and Leon Konieczny.

PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE: He was a US Marine Corps veteran of WW II having served from December 1943 to February 1946. They farmed in the Town of Hixton, Clark County for a period of years. While farming, he also worked at Master Package in Owen and Weather Shield Mfg. in Medford until retirement. He enjoyed camping with family, chatting and reminiscing about being in the service, spending time with his grandchildren/great grandchildren, his Thursday night Social Club, and in his earlier years, he liked to hunt and fish.

Dennis F. Rohland, age 82, of Withee, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. Rev. Donald Bruce will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.

Dennis was born on October 6, 1940, the son of Fred and Margaret (Konieczny) Rohland in Withee. He graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1960. He farmed with his Dad in the Town of Hixon, retiring and moving to a house in Withee in 1994. His lawn was devoted with many interesting lawn ornaments. He enjoyed collecting model cars, tractors, and farm equipment as well as pedal tractors. He was very creative and loved to draw and paint and created projects using cardboard boxes, rocks, and wood.

Dennis is survived by two sisters: Marcia Krueger of Portland, OR and Barbara (James) Rohrer of Fort Atkinson; nieces and nephews: Carol Krueger of Portland, OR, David (Jenny) Krueger of Portland, OR, Paul Dwyer of Sun Prairie and Michael (Laura) Dwyer of Madison; one great-nephew and two great-nieces, many cousins, and special neighbors, Dave Fleming and Louella Bonk.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lois Rohland and Lorie Dwyer.

Lorie R. Dwyer, 49, Whitewater
Lorie R. Dwyer, 49, of Whitewater, died on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, in Juneau.

Born on Oct. 6, 1959, in Sheboygan, to Fred and Margaret (Konieczny) Rohland, she married David Dwyer on Aug. 13, 1988, in Withee.

She worked as a pharmacist for Mercy Health Care in Janesville and for Fort Memorial Hospital in Fort Atkinson.

She attended Faith Community Church in Fort Atkinson.

Surviving are her husband, David Dwyer of Whitewater; two sons, Paul Dwyer and Michael Dwyer, both of Whitewater; two sisters, Dr. Barbara (Dr. Jim Rohr) Rohland of Rochester, Minn., and Marcia Krueger of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Dennis Rohland of Withee; one nephew, David Krueger; and one niece, Carol Tiedeman.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lois Rohland.

Funeral services will be held at Faith Community Church in Fort Atkinson at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, with the Rev. Dan Pierce officiating.

Friends may call at the church on Friday from 6:30 p.m. until the time of services.

Graveside services will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Withee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, with the Rev. Thomas Myhre officiating. There will be a visitation at the cemetery on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of graveside service.

ROBERT F. ROHLAND, age 66, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at
Ascension Our Lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11am
on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Maple Grove Bible Church in Stanley. Pastors Steve Mohr and
Randy VanDeLoo will officiate, and burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee, WI.
Visitation will be held at the church, on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 4pm to 7pm, and again on Monday, from 10am until time of service.
Robert Frank Rohland was born on April 28, 1952 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley,
the son of Otto and Agnes (Konieczny) Rohland. His first job was working on the family farm. He graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1970. Bob then attended UW-Eau Claire and
received a bachelors degree in Environmental Science. He went on to work for the State of
Wisconsin where he held various positions in the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Natural Resources. Bob was united in marriage to Sharon A. Carey on January 24, 1981 in Alma Center, WI. He continued to work for the Wisconsin DNR as a waste management specialist until retiring on January 4, 2019.
He had many interests, but especially loved his Lord, spending time with his children and
grandchildren, literature, being outdoors, and spending time in the woods.
Bob was active in leadership at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Stanley for many years, and most recently enjoyed attending Maple Grove Bible Church with his wife and family, especially his beloved granddaughter Madisyn.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Sharon, of Thorp; four children: Beth (Matt) Migala of
Stanley, Andrea (Isaiah) Westaby of Gilman, Nathan Rohland of Thorp, Ethan Rohland of Thorp; six grandchildren: Madisyn Fitzl, Chloe Migala, William, Aiden, Samuel and Benjamin Westaby; five siblings: Janis (Al) Missling of Withee, Marilyn (Ken) Churchill of Green Bay, Jerrold Rohland of Green Bay, Steven Rohland of Fort Atkinson, WI, Brian (Dorthy) Rohland of Bloomer; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Todd Rohland.

Ronald “Ron” S. Konieczny, 60, of Owen passed away on September 21, 2016 in Holway.
He was born on September 28, 1955 to Stanley and Adala (Collar) Konieczny. He was a graduate of Owen- Withee High School. He married Sally Ann Kowalewski on September 23, 1976 in Medford. After school Ron went on to work at Weather Shield for 32 years. After Weather Shield Ron then went on to work for Turenne Construction and Nestle.

In his spare time Ron enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, woodworking, gardening, raising llamas, caring for his lawn, camping, big colorful campfires, watching the Packers, drinking beer and listening to good tunes, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife Sally of Owen, children: Shannon (Patrick) Loucks of Curtiss, Shawn (Sara) Konieczny of Medford, Sherri (Dustin) Dmytro of Gilman, grandchildren: Shawna, Bryant, Victoria, Clark, and Claire. Ron is further survived by his mother, Adala of Medford, sisters: Kathy (Bill) Semanko of Junction City, KS, Karen (Lee) Paul of Medford, Linda (Don) Horgen of Almena, and Judy Bogodonovich of Stanley and many loving nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Stanley, father-in-law Vernon “Bud” Kowalewski, and mother-in-law Marjorie “Marge” Kowalewski.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at his residence at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers Memorial Donation in honor of Ron can be given to his family for designation at a later date.
