OBITUARY for Daryl Uren (born Dee); date of birth: 1939-08-21; recent residence: Iron River, MI; published by Nash Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.-Crystal Falls. Obituary for Daryl "Dee" Uren Daryl "Dee" Uren 79, of Iron River, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Iron River Care Center. Dee was born on August 21, 1939 in Iron River, MI, daughter of the late Lyle and Ida (Casagranda) Frailing. She was raised in Iron River and attended Iron River Schools and graduated as the Valedictorian of her class. During the years she spent following her husband's military career she lived from 1968 to 2004 in California. Dee continued her education during these years and received her Bachelor and Masters degree in Social work. She was employed for over twenty years as a social worker for the State of California and was recognized as the social worker of the year for the State of California in 2001. Dee was an accomplished accordion player. In her younger years she was well known and performed on her own and with several local groups in the Iron River area. She is survived by her children, Dawn (Ron) Newberry of Moorpark, CA, Gwen (Greg) Lemke of Iron River, Lester (Kelly) Uren of Beechwood and Andy (Debbie) Uren of Caspian; brother, Brian (Dondi) Frailing of Caspian; grandchildren, Brittany and Austin Newberry; step brothers, William and Charles Frailing; step sister, Mary Taufner.
