- OBITUARY for William Sebnick, nicknamed Bill; recent residence: Lake City, SC; published by Henryhand Funeral Home Chapel of Peace. William "Bill" Sebnick LAKE CITY-William "Bill" Sebnick, 85, of Lake City, S.C., passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in a local hospital. William was born September 9, 1929, in Lombard, Ill.,, to the late NickSebnick and Anna Elizabeth Savina. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by both parents, his daughter, Litz Nettles, and brother, NickSebnick. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret "Peg" Ladner Sebnick of Lake City; four children: daughters Maggie (Byron) Beck of Marion, and Kathie (Joe) Carter of Florence, and sons, Tom (Paula) Sebnick of Effingham, and Eric (Tanya) Sebnick of Scranton; 12 grandchildren: Will Beck of Florence, Meg Beck of Charleston, Frances Gootman of East Hampton, Mass., Nick, Beah, ZZ and Blaine Carter of Florence, Justin (Cameron) Sebnick of Lake City, Alexus (Ben) Lee of Lexington, Erica Sebnick of Scranton, and Liza and Trey Nettles of Scranton; great-granddaughter, Logan Lee of Lexington; granddaughter, Sydney (Justin) Cook and great-grandson, Liam of Pamplico; son-in-law, Clay Nettles of Scranton; and nephew, Mark Sebnick of Concord, Calif. Bill and his family made Lake City their home in 1966. He was a proud American, a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy, and the owner/president of MidSouth Metal Specialties in Lake City. He was a member of the Lake City First Baptist Church and served the community in many roles, including as a former mayor of Lake City and as a member of the current city council. If there was a job to be done, Bill was the one to do it. Politically a proud American conservative, Bill was liberal with his God-given resources and talents as a Christian. Whether he was working in Haiti, Romania, Mexico, or Lake City; his intention was always to make it a better place. If you didn't know Bill you missed a dynamo who worked until his last day on earth. The family received friends Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at Brockington Funeral Home. Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Lake City First Baptist Church.
