Henry Louis "Hank" Burzynski, age 90, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on November 10, 2024. He was born on November 11, 1933, in Thorp, Wisconsin, to the late George Burzynski and the late Josephine Boroicz Burzynski. Hank is preceded in death by his beloved wife Doris Burzynski, and his son, Keith Burzynski.
He is survived by his son, Daniel Burzynski; stepsons Timothy (Leslie Ann) Head of Dacula and Matthew (Kimberly) Head of Dahlonega; sister Irene Green; and grandchildren Allyson, Zachary, and Maxwell.
Hank lived a life full of hard work, passion, and love for his family. A skilled cabinet maker, Hank retired in 2000 after a long and successful career in the craft. Prior to moving to Dahlonega, he worked as a farmer in Wisconsin, where he raised crops and tended to the land. His hands were as steady in the workshop as they were on the farm, and his craftsmanship left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Hank’s service to his country was equally meaningful. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard, achieving the rank of petty officer and earning the respect of his comrades.
An avid lover of music, Hank was particularly fond of bluegrass, and was known to skillfully play the dobro. His musical talent brought joy to many, especially when he would play alongside his wife Doris, who shared his love for the arts. The couple also enjoyed spending time together on Florida’s beaches, collecting seashells, and playing Bingo, where Hank enjoyed calling the numbers.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Kris Butler and the Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Yahoola Baptist Church, where Hank will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Doris. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the service hour on Thursday.
