      Josephine Kotecki Josephine P. Kotecki, age 78, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

      Josephine was born Dec. 14, 1930, to the late Peter and Katherine (Strzok) Piwoni in Thorp. On Oct. 26, 1952, she married Edward F. Kotecki in Thorp. Josephine enjoyed dairy farming with her husband most of her life. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

      She is survived by her daughter, Nancy J. (Robin) Kotecki-Riley of Windsor, Calif.; son, Daniel (Lynn) Kotecki of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; grandchildren, Jason, Adam and Samuel Kotecki, Logan, Carson, Savannah and Austin Riley; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Cheyenne Kotecki, Mackenzie Riley; brother, Aloise Piwoni of Tinley Park, Ill.; sisters, Annette Tauscher of New Port Richey, Fla., Julia Kendl of Woodruff, Lucille Szemraj of Gilman; sister-in-law, Josephine Sarafin of Thorp; brother-in-law, Frank Kotecki of Eau Claire; nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters; and five brothers.

      A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Evergreen Funeral Home on Golf Road (one block east of Highway 93) with Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date in St. Bernard's-Hedwig Cemetery in Thorp.
