    Lato, John K. (3 MAR 1905 - 29 SEP 1966)

    Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig's Chapel, Oct. 4th for John K. Lato, who passed away Thursday, Sept. 29th, 1966, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley. Rev. Edward Masalewicz officiated at the ten o'clock service and burial was in St. Hedwig's Cemetery.

    Pallbearers were neighbors of the deceased: Florian Sniegowski, Leonard Szymanski, Chester Rogalski, Anton Jacque, George Schmidt and Joe Lewien.

    Mr. Lato, a retired farmer, was born March 3, 1905 in Lublin, Poland. He came to the states in 1925 to his father's farm. Later he bought a farm in the township of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.) and exchanged three different farms until 1963, when he sold his personal property and in 1965 selling his farm, except for 1 acre of land. On Aug. 8, 1913 he was united in marriage to Kathern Rogus at St. Hedwig's Parish, Thorp.

    Surviving are his wife Kathern; four sons, Walter of Palos Hills, Ill., Edward of Brookfield, Wis., Leo of Clio, Mich., Sp. 4 George E. Lato, serving in Vietnam; two daughters, (Amelia) Mrs. Peter Haider, and Genevieve, both in Minneapolis; one brother Bruno of Lublin, Poland; three sisters, (Veronica) Mrs. Stanley Kosik, (Magdalene) Mrs. Stanley Lasiuk, (Stella) Mrs. Joe Grabowski; one uncle, Anton Lato; one aunt, Agnes Lato, and thirteen grandchildren.

    Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mr. Ludwik Lato, Sask., Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kanesky, Barnum, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. John Lato, Menomonie, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Frantz, Neillsville, Wis., Mrs. John Rogus and son John, Gordon, Wis., Joe Lato, Stratford, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lato, Clio, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. George Hopkins, Mrs. Joe Karmowski, Mr. and Ms. Stanley Rogus, Mrs. Alex Shmigelsky, Mrs. John Kubiak and daughter, Mr. Wacek Lato, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lato and family, Palos Hill, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Donald Letvinuck and son Chester, Lombard, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Chester Kosik, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lato, Brookfield, Wis., Miss Genevieve Lato, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Haider and son, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Cisek, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Haider, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ezucek, Mr. Robert Krause, Carole Hornug, Phyllis Dahlhemier, Janice Wilson, Jackie Haider, Mrs. Groeke and son Marcus, all from Minneapolis. Others were from Gilman, Greenwood, Stanley and Thorp.

    John married Katherine Rogus on 8 Aug 1931 in St. Hedwig, Thorp, WI USA. Katherine was born on 10 Jun 1914 in Greenwood, WI USA; died on 19 Sep 2007 in Victory Hospital, Stanley, WI USA; was buried on 21 Sep 2007 in Old St. Hedwig, Thorp, WI USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
