    During WW I there is a Walenty Langiewicz, from Thorp, Wisconsin (Pg 199 Vol. 1) listed as a member of the Polish Army in France, called "Haller's Army-from the Polish Genealogical Society of America comes the following statement "An estimated 20,000 Polish persons answered the call to fight for freedom and the opportunity to regain Poland's independence during World War I in the Polish Army in France (in Polish Armia Polska we Francyi). They were recruited from among the Polish immigrants who came to America to fight with France."

    Mrs. Joseph Langiewicz of Thorp, Clark Co., Wis., died of a stroke of paralysis on Jan. 17th, 1931 at the home of her son Alex Langiewicz in the town of Withee at the age of 71 years.
    She was born in Poland on Jan. 15th, 1860. She came to this country about forty-two years ago and resided on a farm near Thorp, Wis. with her husband Joseph, who passed away July 24, 1927. She leaves four sons and four daughters to mourn her loss, namely William of Kellogg, Idaho; Adam of St. Luis Rey, Calif.; Joseph and Alex of Thorp, Wis.; Mrs. Mary Kynez of Aberdeen, Wash.; Mrs. Louis Olinski of Thorp, Wis.; Mrs. Mike Stevens and Mrs. Elmer Fulmer of Minneapolis, and seventeen grandchildren.
