Victor Konieczny, age 88, beloved husband of the late Clara, nee Burzynski; loving dad of Dennis (Jo Ann), Kathy ( the late Mel) McGuiggan, Janice (Pat) Wagner, Kenny, Donny (Arlene) and the late Elaine; cherished grandpa of Dennis, Mel, Vickie, Traci, Joe, Jaimie, Kevin, and Abby; proud great-grandpa of Connor and Leily; brother of Malin (the late Lillian), Sylvester (Alice), and the late Roy (the late Jean), the late Leona (the late Ted) Wojtas; uncle to many nieces and nephews; dear friend of Gene Rodgers. He will be missed by many neighbors. Proud WW II Army Veteran. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Masses said in his memory would be appreciated. He was the beloved husband of the late Clara, nee Burzynski; loving dad of Dennis (Jo Ann), Kathy (the late Mel) McGuiggan, Janice (Pat) Wagner, Kenny, Donny (Arlene) and the late Elaine; cherished grandpa of Dennis, Mel, Vickie, Traci, Joe, Jaimie, Kevin, and Abby; proud great-grandpa of Connor and Leily; brother of Malin (the late Lillian), Sylvester (Alice), and the late Roy (the late Jean), the late Leona (the late Ted) Wojtas; uncle to many nieces and nephews; dear friend of Gene Rodgers. --------- Konieczny, George (29 MAR 1850 - 27 JAN 1930)

George Konieczny, aged 79 years and 10 months, died at the home of his son Joseph, in the town of Withee, Clark County, Wis., of bronchial pneumonia, on Monday, Jan. 27th, 1930, after an illness of eight days.

Mr. Konieczny was born in Poland March 29, 1850. In 1877 he was united in marriage to Mary Mikoliwicz. Nine children blessed this union, six of whom survive. The couple arrived in America in 1880, spending about seven years in Pennsylvania and twelve years in St. Paul, and located in Thorp on a farm about thirty years ago.

Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn, three sons, Frank and Joe of thorp and Michael of Denver, Colo., three daughters, Mrs. Joe Langiewicz of Thorp, and Mrs. Mary Lee and Miss Sophia Konieczny of Minneapolis, two step-brothers, Luke Stuk of New Brighton, Minn., and Simon Stuk of Iron River, Mich. Anton Haider of Minneapolis and all the children, excepting Michael of Colorado, were her to attend the funeral, which took place at St. Hedwig's Church on Wednesday of last week, Rev. F. A. Kulig officiating, interment following in the church cemetery.

George married Mary Martha Niklewicz on 31 Aug 1878 (Civil) in Lubrze, Poland. Mary (daughter of Michael Niklewicz and Małgorzata Rose Stasiak (Staszak/Stasak)) was born on 14 Jan 1859 in Baba, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Poland; died on 5 Jul 1949 in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, USA; was buried in Old St. Hedwig Cemetery, Thorp, Wisconsin, USA. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church here on July 9th for Mrs. Mary Konieczny, 91, who passed away at the General Hospital at Minneapolis on July 5th, 1949 of complication following a fracture hip.

Mary Neklewicz was born Jan. 14, 1859 in Poznan, Poland. She was united in marriage there on Sept. 1, 1878 to George Konieczny, who with three daughters, preceded her in death.

She came to America with her husband in 1886 and resided at St. Paul, coming to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1898. She had spent the past nineteen years with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Lee in Minneapolis.

Surviving her are three sons, Frank and Joseph of Thorp, Mike of Denver, Colo., three daughters, Mrs. Mary lee and Mrs. Sophia R. Noren, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Joseph Lang of Thorp, twenty-three grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Burial was made in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, Frank, George, Victor and Ray Konieczny, Frank Bonczyk and Joseph H. Lee.

in a Polish settlement known as "Poznan". It is located 2 miles East of Thorp, Wisconsin on County Rd. X.

Rzetelny, Matt (24 FEB 1852 - 7 MAR 1947)

Matt Rzetelny, 95, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Helen Pawlak of the Town of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.) on March 7, 1947, of old age infirmities. He was born in Poland, Feb. 24, 1852, and came to this country in 1890. Mrs. Rzetelny passed away April 24, 1940, and three sons, Lawrence, Steve and Frank also preceded him in death. He located on a farm near Thorp 47 years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Harry of Chicago and Martin of Thorp; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Spchalla, Milwaukee, Mrs. Josephine Konieczny and Mrs. Frances Malecki, of thorp, and Mrs. Anna Cielski and Mrs. Helen Pawlak of Withee, nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski and Rev. R. Rucki for the deceased at St. Hedwig’s Church on Monday, March 10th at 10:00 a.m. Interment was made in the parish cemetery. Six grandsons served as pallbearers, Roy and Malin Konieczny, Richard Malecki and Leonard, Calvin and Steve Pawlak, Jr.

Matthew married Maryanna Antczak in 1881 in Poland, Germany. Maryanna (daughter of Stephan Antczak and Sophie Olszewska) was born on 10 Dec 1865 in Poland, Germany; died on 26 Apr 1940 in Withee, Clark, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
