    Mary Ann (Lewan) Urbas, 79, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI, surrounded by her family.

    She was born on February 4, 1935, to Anton and Lottie (Kendra) Lewan and raised in Gilman, WI. Mary graduated from Gilman High School then worked in Chicago. Upon her father's death, she returned to Gilman and worked in her family's grocery store until her marriage to Donald H. Urbas. They lived in Thorp then moved to Hallie where they raised their family.

    She enjoyed watching birds and animals in her yard, raising plants, picking pussy willows, and working puzzles. She was a good cook - especially well known for her homemade dill pickles, potato salad, pierogi and golabki. Mary was a quiet, kind, compassionate and gentle person. She will be greatly missed by her family.

    Mary is survived by her husband, Don; six children, Michael (Janet) Urbas, Barry Urbas, Sandra (John) Hjortland, Bruce (Katy) Urbas, William Urbas, and Linda (Todd Johnston) Urbas; five grandchildren, Ben, Alex, Sam, Morgan, and Trace; one brother, Richard Lewan; one niece, Rhonda Lewan; and one nephew, Jeffrey Lewan.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Benny and Clarence Lewan.

    A Celebration of Life will be held Saurday, November 15th from 11-4 at the Village of Hallie Town Hall, with lunch served at noon.

    Interment will be private at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

    Memorials are preferred to the Irvine Park Zoo in Chippewa Falls.

    Chippewa Valley Cremation Services is serving the family.
