      Frank E. Konieczny, age 87, of the Town of Withee, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 14, 2011, surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee. The Rev. Bonnie Cain officiated. Visitation was held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Owen. Friends also called one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday.



      Mr. Konieczny was born on September 26, 1923, on the family farm in Thorp, the son of Frank and Sophia (Haider) Konieczny. He attended Pineland School. Frank was united in marriage to Phyllis Ammentorp on June 16, 1945, at Nazareth Lutheran Church.



      In addition to owning a dairy farm in the Town of Withee, Mr. Konieczny also worked at Thorp Silo Company and later was employed at Master Package, where he was a foreman. He retired in 1987.



      Frank was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and also served on church council. He was a past president of the Paper Workers Union and former member of the Pineland School Board. Frank was also a former manager of the Pineland School Baseball Team.



      Frank cherished the time he could spend with family and friends, especially if it included playing sheepshead, cribbage and various card games. Camping, hunting and fishing were some of Frank’s other favorite pastimes.



      He is lovingly survived by his wife, Phyllis Konieczny, Thorp; children: Roger (Jean Arnce) Portage, Sharon (Butch) Maier, Union Grove, David (Chris) Konieczny, Medford, Ginny (Pat) Frinack, Thorp, Paul (Chris) Konieczny, Thorp, and Carol (Dennis) Kuehnhold, Marshfield; 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; as well as a sister, Agnes Rohland, Withee; and brothers: Stanley (Adala) Konieczny, Medford and George (Joanne) Konieczny of Marshfield.



      Frank is preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Rohland; and brothers, Tom and Leon Konieczny.
