Gregory A. “Pruitt” Kotecki, 56, of Eau Claire, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Greg was born on August 26, 1960, in Stanley, to Frank and Stephanie (Szczech) Kotecki. He grew up in Altoona and attended school at St. Mary’s, St. Patrick’s, and graduated with the Class of 1978, from Regis High School. On May 23, 1981, Greg married his high school sweetheart, Jami Bridges. Together they lived in Eau Claire for most of their married life and he was employed at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery for over forty years.

Greg enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, was a passionate fisherman, and was Lake Altoona’s unofficial fishing guide. He was also a life-long Brewers and Packers fan, and loved the challenge of a tough jigsaw puzzle. He always had an answer for questions from car repair, to food safety, to home improvement. He will be remembered for his work ethic, fish fries, boundless generosity, and late night sweet tooth. The next time you hit the water, cast your line in his honor.

The family would like to thank the doctors and the nursing staff who cared for Greg so compassionately at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital.

Greg is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jami; three children, Andrew (Kimberly) Kotecki, Nicholas (Teresa Kasper) Kotecki and Megan (Ty) Fadness; four grandsons, Liam Kotecki and his brother on the way, and J.J. and Crosby Fadness; parents, Frank and Stephanie Kotecki; two brothers, Don (Roberta) Kotecki and Brian (Tracy) Kotecki; nieces, nephews, other relatives, his Perkins family and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Vernie Kotecki; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Bernice Szczech; and parents-in-law, Peter and Beverly Bridges.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St. in Eau Claire with Father Paul Hoffman officiating.
