MALIN G. KONIECZNY, age 89, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Clark County Rehabilitation & Living Center in Owen, WI. A Mass in celebration of Malin's life will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, in Thorp. Rev. Janusz Kowalski will officiate and burial will follow in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Thorp American Legion. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 8:30am until time of service.
Malin George Konieczny was born on May 21, 1925, in Thorp, WI, to Joe and Josephine (Rzetelney) Konieczny. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Pineland School. Malin moved to Chicago in the late 1940’s, and it was there that he met the love of his life, Lillian Burzinski. Malin served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952. He was an Army Staff Sergeant in the 38 Infantry, 2nd Division. Upon his return from the service, he was united in marriage to Lillian Burzinski on June 22, 1953 in Thorp, WI. In 1957, they moved back to Thorp and purchased the family farm. While farming, Malin also worked for the Town of Withee as a truck driver and grader operator. He retired from farming in 1978 and worked at Teledyne in Owen, until his retirement in 1990.
Malin loved polka music. To honor his request, a polka band will play in the afternoon at the American Legion Hall. Besides polka music, Malin was an avid newspaper reader of current events, gardener, and weather watcher. He also was a member of the Thorp American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Malin loved to travel and recently spent time in Florida, Michigan and attended many polka festivals.
He will be dearly missed by his six children: Karen (Nile) Schaefer of Woodbury MN, Nancy (Daniel) Tolzmann of Owen, Susan (John) Kiraly of Stanley, Ronald (Sheila) Konieczny of Tomah, Gary (Naomi) Konieczny of Abbotsford, Duane (Rita) Konieczny of West St. Paul, MN; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends..
Malin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian, on June 4, 2010; his parents; four brothers: Klements, Roy, Victor and Sylvester Konieczny; one sister: Leona ; and one grandson: Matthew Konieczny.

ABBOTSFORD -- Matthew J. Konieczny, 13, of Abbotsford, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann will conduct the service. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service. Serving as his pallbearers will be David Wiese, Jacob Lavin, Nicholas Bieno, Aaron Kiraly, Alex Kiraly and Dan Tolzmann Jr.
Matthew was born Jan. 20, 1997, in Eau Claire to Gary and Naomi (Bieno) Konieczny. Matthew was homeschooled by his parents. His family are active members at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. He was an active member of Zion Youth Group. Matthew was a very active young man filled with ambition and a good sense of humor. He played baseball on the Abby Heat Baseball Team, and was an avid Brewers, Badgers and Packers fan. He was also a fan of Marshfield Chapparrals and the Wisconsin Woodchucks. He enjoyed listening to music, playing video games, spending time his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his Papa.
Matthew is lovingly survived by his parents, Gary and Naomi Konieczny of Abbotsford; and his sister, Rachel M. Konieczny of Abbotsford. He is further survived by his grandparents, Edward and Mary Ann Bieno and Malin and Lillian Konieczny.
