    MALIN G. KONIECZNY, age 89, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Clark County Rehabilitation & Living Center in Owen, WI. A Mass in celebration of Malin's life will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, in Thorp. Rev. Janusz Kowalski will officiate and burial will follow in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Thorp American Legion. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 8:30am until time of service.
    Malin George Konieczny was born on May 21, 1925, in Thorp, WI, to Joe and Josephine (Rzetelney) Konieczny. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Pineland School. Malin moved to Chicago in the late 1940’s, and it was there that he met the love of his life, Lillian Burzinski. Malin served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952. He was an Army Staff Sergeant in the 38 Infantry, 2nd Division. Upon his return from the service, he was united in marriage to Lillian Burzinski on June 22, 1953 in Thorp, WI. In 1957, they moved back to Thorp and purchased the family farm. While farming, Malin also worked for the Town of Withee as a truck driver and grader operator. He retired from farming in 1978 and worked at Teledyne in Owen, until his retirement in 1990.
    Malin loved polka music. To honor his request, a polka band will play in the afternoon at the American Legion Hall. Besides polka music, Malin was an avid newspaper reader of current events, gardener, and weather watcher. He also was a member of the Thorp American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Malin loved to travel and recently spent time in Florida, Michigan and attended many polka festivals.
    He will be dearly missed by his six children: Karen (Nile) Schaefer of Woodbury MN, Nancy (Daniel) Tolzmann of Owen, Susan (John) Kiraly of Stanley, Ronald (Sheila) Konieczny of Tomah, Gary (Naomi) Konieczny of Abbotsford, Duane (Rita) Konieczny of West St. Paul, MN; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends..
    Malin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian, on June 4, 2010; his parents; four brothers: Klements, Roy, Victor and Sylvester Konieczny; one sister: Leona ; and one grandson: Matthew Konieczny.
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in Malin's name.

    Lillian Konieczny passed away unexpectedly in her
    home on Friday, June 4, 2010. She was born April 21 ,1928
    to George and Josephine (Borowicz) Burzinski. Lil married
    Malin Konieczny on June 22, 1953 in Thorp, Wisconsin.
    She was a great gardener and berry picker. She loved
    canning and making jams and jellies for family and friends.
    Lil was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers:

    Frank; Joe, Stanley, Mitchell, and George; two sisters:.
    Clara and Alice; and grandson, Matthew Konieczny. She
    will be dearly missed by her husband, Malin Konieczny of

    George Konieczny, aged 79 years and 10 months, died at the home of his son Joseph, in the town of Withee, Clark County, Wis., of bronchial pneumonia, on Monday, Jan. 27th, 1930, after an illness of eight days.

    Mr. Konieczny was born in Poland March 29, 1850. In 1877 he was united in marriage to Mary Mikoliwicz. Nine children blessed this union, six of whom survive. The couple arrived in America in 1880, spending about seven years in Pennsylvania and twelve years in St. Paul, and located in Thorp on a farm about thirty years ago.

    Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn, three sons, Frank and Joe of thorp and Michael of Denver, Colo., three daughters, Mrs. Joe Langiewicz of Thorp, and Mrs. Mary Lee and Miss Sophia Konieczny of Minneapolis, two step-brothers, Luke Stuk of New Brighton, Minn., and Simon Stuk of Iron River, Mich. Anton Haider of Minneapolis and all the children, excepting Michael of Colorado, were her to attend the funeral, which took place at St. Hedwig's Church on Wednesday of last week, Rev. F. A. Kulig officiating, interment following in the church cemetery.

    George married Mary Martha Niklewicz on 31 Aug 1878 (Civil) in Lubrze, Poland.     Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church here on July 9th for Mrs. Mary Konieczny, 91, who passed away at the General Hospital at Minneapolis on July 5th, 1949 of complication following a fracture hip.

    Mary Neklewicz was born Jan. 14, 1859 in Poznan, Poland. She was united in marriage there on Sept. 1, 1878 to George Konieczny, who with three daughters, preceded her in death.

    She came to America with her husband in 1886 and resided at St. Paul, coming to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1898. She had spent the past nineteen years with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Lee in Minneapolis.

    Surviving her are three sons, Frank and Joseph of Thorp, Mike of Denver, Colo., three daughters, Mrs. Mary lee and Mrs. Sophia R. Noren, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Joseph Lang of Thorp, twenty-three grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

    Burial was made in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, Frank, George, Victor and Ray Konieczny, Frank Bonczyk and Joseph H. Lee.

    Matt Rzetelny, 95, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Helen Pawlak of the Town of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.) on March 7, 1947, of old age infirmities. He was born in Poland, Feb. 24, 1852, and came to this country in 1890. Mrs. Rzetelny passed away April 24, 1940, and three sons, Lawrence, Steve and Frank also preceded him in death. He located on a farm near Thorp 47 years ago.

    Surviving are two sons, Harry of Chicago and Martin of Thorp; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Spchalla, Milwaukee, Mrs. Josephine Konieczny and Mrs. Frances Malecki, of thorp, and Mrs. Anna Cielski and Mrs. Helen Pawlak of Withee, nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski and Rev. R. Rucki for the deceased at St. Hedwig’s Church on Monday, March 10th at 10:00 a.m. Interment was made in the parish cemetery. Six grandsons served as pallbearers, Roy and Malin Konieczny, Richard Malecki and Leonard, Calvin and Steve Pawlak, Jr.
